Edmund “Eddie” Leroy Swanger, 71, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away in Sioux City, IA on November 21, 2024 surrounded by his family.  Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Eddie was born on January 3, 1953 in Omaha, NE to Donald and Betty (Christiansen) Swanger.  He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and enlisted into the United States Army.  After serving he was honorably discharged.  He lived his entire life in Council Bluffs before getting sick and coming to Sioux City to live with his sister in July.  He worked in several packing houses, as a mail sorter, and at American Game in Council Bluffs.  He enjoyed anime, comics, knitting, and video games.

Those left to honor his memory include his step-mom, Carolyn “Verlee” Swanger; sisters: Paula Hurlbert, Rebecca Garges, and Andrea Swanger; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded on death by his parents; brother, Donnie Swanger; and niece, Stephanie Hurlbert.
