Dwight R. Reed, 80 of Sioux City, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Private family services were held Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Dwight Richard Reed was born on July 12, 1936 in Pacific Junction, Iowa, the son of Albert and Nettie (Dawdy) Reed. Dwight enlisted in the US Marines and served in the Korean War. Dwight worked as a mechanic at area trailer repair shops, and also at Trinity Steele, building bridge beams. Dwight and his brother Larry started National Trailer Service in Sioux City. He later became sole owner of NTS.
Dwight was a great conversationalist. Those who knew him would find themselves talking about trucking, politics and even gardening. Dwight was a very generous, compassionate and loyal man. Dwight was united in marriage to Sheila Reinhold on August 14, 1987 in Sioux City.
Dwight is survived by his wife Sheila; his children, Christiana Reed of Sioux City, Loyed (Marie) Reed of Le Mars, Diana (Scott) Kunkel of Sioux City, Stanley (Tammy) Reed of Sioux Falls, Charmin Reed of Elk City, OK, Joanna (Jenny) Cupak of Omaha, and Wesley Reed of Sioux City; stepdaughter, Ginny McDonald-Green; his grandchildren, Angela, Natasha, John, Kenneth, Stormie, Jordann, Lannie, Billy, Anthony, Marcell, John, Emily, Gabriell, Samantha, Jordan, Jacob, Jadyn, Jaley, Christina, Shelby, and Reed; step grandchildren, Nikki, Stefani, and James; his 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joyce Langle, Opal Barger, Nancy Reed, Allen Reed and Bob Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Angela Reed, 2 grandchildren, Ples Kropp and Junior Kropp, and siblings Larry Reed, Ardel Reed, Shirely Bates, Sharon Horgan and Jim Reed.
