Dustin L. “Doogie” Herbst, 29 of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, with a short service at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the American Legion in South Sioux City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Dustin was born December 3, 1988 in Sioux City. He is the son of Richard Herbst and Bonnie Jane Kemp. He grew up in Sioux City and in 2007 he graduated from East High School. Dustin worked for Wells and Smurfit-Stone while in Sioux City. In 2012 he started a flooring business with Scott Everton in Durango, Colorado. In the late summer of 2017 Dustin moved back to Sioux City.
Doogie enjoyed music, loved animals and being with his family and friends. He also had a special place in his heart for Cambria, his niece.
He is survived by his father, Rich Herbst; step father, Ben Nappe; Aunts, Lesa (Elwin) McKernan, Debra (Rich Freymond) Guinn and Kerry Wenzel, all of Sioux City; Uncles, Gary (Cindy) Kemp of Kansas City, MO and Joseph (Danielle) Benoit of LeMars; nieces and nephews, Nina McKernan, Kierra McKernan, Malinda Benoit and Joe Benoit, Jr.; and a good friend, Jason Rydstom of Sioux City.
Dustin was preceded in death by his mother; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Margaret (Maggie) Kemp; and his Paternal grandparents, Edward and Nellie Herbst.
