Duane “Dewey” L. Sturges, 64, of Sioux City, IA, passed away unexpectedly May 1, 2024.  A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.  Please feel free to dress casually or wear camouflage.

Duane was born on November 8, 1959, in Sioux City, IA to Jerry and Helen (Gengler) Sturges.  He graduated from East High School and was united in marriage to Kenna Gerjets on October 6, 1984, in Sioux City.

Dewey worked as a meat packer for IBP/Tyson before retiring after 42 years.  He loved hunting, fishing, scrapping, gardening, bowling, and feeding the animals at his son's house.  He was a handy man and enjoyed taking the neighborhood children and his sons camping and fishing. Dewey especially loved spending time with his family and family gatherings. He would open his door to everyone, and they were always welcome.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kenna Sturges; children: Kimberly Gabel-Beck, Stephanie (Ricky) Gorter, Kevin (Emilee) Sturges, and Corey (Allysa) Sturges; grandchildren: Jimmy Gorter, Kaden Beck, Colten Beck, Ryder Gorter, Huxley Sturges, Marlee Paris and 1grandson on the way; siblings: JoAnn, Steve, Rick, Julie, Jeri, and Janice; brother-in-law, Garry Gerjets; nephews: Jeff, Alex, and Brandon; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law: Barney and Betty Gerjets; and sister-in-law, Kellie Sturges.
