Douglas "Doug" Smith, 59, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on June 25, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 13th from 11-2:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at noon at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Luncheon to follow the services.

Doug was born on April 30, 1965, in Pomona, California to Raymond and Frances (Nielson) Smith.  He moved to Sioux City, IA in 2018.  Doug was united in marriage to Carol Ann Read on April 27, 1991.

Doug was a “guys guy,” and loved his job at the Foundry.  In his younger years he was a great athlete, playing baseball, football, basketball, and softball.  He enjoyed fishing and sitting on his porch drinking blue yum-yums.  Doug touched a lot of lives and made a lasting impression on the people he met.  He will be missed by many.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carol Smith; children: Christopher Smith, Joshua O’Connor, Christina Smith, and Ashley Smith; and brothers: Leonard (Beth), Paul (Candie), and Dave (Tanya). Grandchildren: James, Haile, Aryonna, Nycholas, Rosie, Quinn, Xander, and Sylus; Great-Grandchild: Elijah.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Carter.
