Douglas “Stretch” Elgert, Sr, 67, of Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his home. Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10 am at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City 4125 Orleans Ave. A Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Doug “Stretch” Ronald Elgert was born Tuesday, August 17, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa to Fernant and Vanetta (Barrett) Elgert. Doug went to Central High School in Sioux City and enlisted in the United States Marines at the age of 17. After being honorably discharged he worked at Chesterman Company. Doug loved to hunt and fish and was always ready to have a good time.

Doug is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Earnest) Casey; his grandchildren Angela, Lisa, Jasper, and Jaeydon; his brothers Tom Elgert, Mark Elgert, Dale (Stasia) Elgert, and Scott (Terri) Elgert; and his sisters Dianna Heibel, Jeanette (William) Thomas, Sally (Richard) Howard, and Mary Catherine Oberg.

Doug was preceded in death by his son Douglas Jr.; his parents; his sister Carroll Johnson; his sister-in-law Susan Elgert; brother-in-law Jerry Heibel; his niece Lisa Christenson, and his nephew Chad Elgert.
