Dorothy K. Kent, 95, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her home. Dorothy has been cremated and per her request there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Dorothy was born September 14, 1916 in Sioux City to George Augustus and Anna Marie Elizabeth (Clausen) Wittern. She was a long-time resident of Sioux City. Dorothy married Walter Claude Kent on January 29, 1938. She loved to play cards, do crossword puzzles, sew, knit, crochet, cook, and read. She also enjoyed having a garden, canning her own food and chopped her own wood until she was 90 years old. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter JoAnn (Kent) and her husband Joe Goolsbey of Bartlesville, OK, grandchildren: Larry and Deb Cole of Sioux City, Lori and Randy Fox of Council Bluffs, IA, Linda and Cory Mohrhause of Bella Vista, AR, Cindy and Ron Zellers of Sioux City, Lance and Jennifer Cole of Council Bluffs, IA, Malcolm and Deb Kyser of Tallassee, AL, Mike and Mary Price of Sioux City, Bill and Leann Price of Westminster, CO, Kathy Price of Sioux City, Deanna Johnson of Fort Worth, TX, and Doug Price of Sioux City, 27 great grandchildren, 28 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, daughters Jean (and Alfred) Cole, and Janet (and Merle) Price, grandsons Daniel Price and Steven Kyser, great grandson Jonathon Webster, Sr., great-great grandchild Cole Mohrhauser.
