Dorothy Delores Meier, 85, of South Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 11:00 am, on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Dorothy was born on May 10, 1932 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Israel and Zella (Hampston) Denind. Dorothy Denind married Robert Eugene Meier on September 23, 1951.

Dorothy worked at IBP on the tipper machine, for 30 plus years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed gardening, reading, she was an excellent artist, and had a very strong faith in the Lord. Most importantly, Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother.

Survivors include her children, Linda McDaniel of South Sioux City, Susan (Mark Jr.) Tighe of Sioux City, and Randy (Lisa) of Colorado; grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Courtney, Melissa, and Joshua, and great grandchildren, Devon and Marissa.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Robert; and great granddaughter, Lara.
