Dorothy J. Frisbie, 81, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at a local hospital.
Services will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View, Iowa.

Dorothy was born January 30, 1931 in Wall Lake, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Nellie (Auen) Leitz. She graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1948. Dorothy attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953. On September 26, 1953, she united in marriage to David F. Frisbie. She worked at St. Luke’s for 11 years, followed by 23 years at Sunrise Manor.

She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, participating in Lamplighters, Altar Guild, and many other activities.

Survivors include her husband David; daughter, Sherri Frisbie of Omaha; son, David Frisbie of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Leroy and James and his wife Phyllis all of Lake View, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Kenneth Leitz; and sisters, Katherine Meister, Joan Robinson, and Maxine Fanning.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Dorothy’s name to the Arthritis Foundation.
