Dorothy A Farley, age 69, of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday January 12, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at Crossroads Evangelical Church in South Sioux City with Pastor Clyde Pritchett officiating. Mrs. Farley will be cremated following the funeral service and interment will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 pm with the family present 6-8pm and a prayer service held at 7:00 pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born in January 20, 1944 in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Florence (Stevenson) Messelhiser. She lived in the Orange City, Iowa area for a period of time, also living in the Le Mars, Iowa area for a few years before locating in the Sioux City area in 1967.
She was united in marriage with Gary Farley on July 5, 1975 in Sioux City.
She attended Stewarts School of Beauty. She then began employment at Dura-Pak in South Sioux City, where she worked for 10 years. She then began a career at MCI in Sergeant Bluff, where she worked for more than 19 years.
Dorothy was a spotless housekeeper who was very organized. She enjoyed crafts. Scrapbooking, photography and puzzles. She also was an active mall walker. She loved her two dogs: Sparky and Rusty. Dorothy also enjoyed traveling with Gary and was especially fond on their trips to Las Vegas. She enjoyed being with all of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church.
Dorothy’s life and memories will be shared and missed by her family which includes her husband Gary of South Sioux City, her daughters: Cindy McPherson and her husband Tom of South Sioux City, and Linda Johnson and her husband Chuck of Sioux City. She is also survived by her step-daughter Mona Gatz and her husband Bill of South Sioux City, a brother Donnie Messelhiser of Dubuque, Iowa and a sister Connie Anderson of Blair, Nebraska, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Sharon Janes.
