Dorothy Mae Domina Alderson, 92, of Sioux City passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Services will held 11 am Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service time. Covid 19 restrictions will apply.

Dorothy was born July 25, 1928 in New Castle, NE to Clifton and Mary Domina. Her family settled around Climbing Hill, Iowa and Dorothy graduated from Onawa School. While living in Sioux City and working at the old Pierce Street Mansion as a maid, Dorothy was corresponding with a pen pal, Sergeant Kenneth R. Alderson, whom, having never met in person prior to the wedding, was married on December 31, 1953 in Forestville, California. Together they raised five children,

After being in several states and one overseas station, the family moved to Sioux City in 1966.

Dorothy was a stay at home mom for the most part but did sell Avon door to door for several years. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles.

Dorothy is survived by her five children Gayle (Wallace) Flowers, Williamsburg, VA; Margaret (Leonard) Miller, Sioux City, Iowa; Evelyn (Joe) Pippitt, Oto, Iowa; Ken (Connie) Alderson, Sioux City, IA; Twila (Tim) Warren, Sioux City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; her brother Melvin (Nancy) Domina of Omaha, NE, her sisters Lois (Jim) Brownlee of Sioux City, Dee Dee Kendell of Omaha, NE and Phyllis (Jim) LaBarge of Sioux City.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Mary Domina, her husband Ken, brothers Orville and Donald and her sister LaDonna Rowell and a brother-in-law, Gary Kendell.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Siouxland and their staff for the kind and caring care they gave her and a very special blessing to Tim Warren for his loving care and comfort to Dorothy.
