She went to work at the age of 14 waitressing at the Martin and Warrior Hotels in Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1949. After high school she took business classes. She worked at House of Vision, Bekins, and Nutrina Mills before marrying Howard Williams on April 11th, 1958. She was very proud of her affiliation and the friends she made through TOPS. Doris in recent years enjoyed the friends they met every Sunday at Exxon. Gordon and Neta were especially dear to Doris.
She was affectionately known to some of her family as Grama “Do-Do”. She enjoyed making patchwork and embroidered quilts for everyone she loved.
