Doris Jean Campbell-Nieman, 70, of Sioux City, passed away, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Touchstone Living Center.
Wake services began Wednesday, April 17, evening and will continue through Saturday, April 20, morning at St. Paul's Episcopal Indian Mission Church. Burial will be in Holy Faith Cemetery in Santee. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service and the Santee Nation Wake and Burial Services.
Doris was born on September 6, 1942 in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Florence (West) Campbell. The family moved to Sioux City during the mid 1950’s. Doris worked at Swift and Company for several years, then as a housekeeper at various homes until retiring during the early 1990’s.
Doris was an avid walker. She enjoyed going to thrift shops and also listening to Swap Shop on KSCJ. Family was the most important part of Doris life. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren and visiting with family.
Doris was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Indian Mission Church.
Doris is survived by her daughters Sandra Guadarrama, Tracy Magallanes, Lesley Nieman and Lori Nieman-Prichard, her siblings Rose Rockwood, Shirley Campbell, Mary Campbell, Karen (Brian) Stovall, Betty Campbell, Frank (Gloria) Campbell and Ron Campbell; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her companion, John Prichard, her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and one granddaughter.
