Doris E. Blakey-Ivory, 64, of Sioux City, went to heaven Thursday, June 7 at a local hospital.
Funeral Services will be held noon Wednesday, June 13 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to service.
Visitation in Yankton, South Dakota will be held 9 - 11 am Thursday, June 14 at Wintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Yankton City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Doris was born October 3, 1947 in Yankton, South Dakota, daughter of Leroy and Thelma (Trudell) Blakey, Sr. She graduated from high school in Yankton. Doris married Geames Ivory on December
31, 1965 in Sioux City. She went to Barber School in 1985 and owned Ivory’s Hair Connection in Sioux City for 20 years. Doris also worked at Countryside Living Center for a number of years.
Doris had a great love for God and traveled spreading God's word. Doris was an outgoing person that loved everybody. She had a special gift to connect with anybody she came in contact with. Doris had a special bond with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Geames Ivory, son: Stephen Sims, Sean Ivory, Shannon Ivory, Sam Blakey (Jackie), and Noel Bender of Sioux City, daughters: Rochelle Knowles-Ivory, Audrey Jackson (Keith), and Eboni Green (Terrance) of Omaha, siblings: Phyllis Blakey, Angie Kirschmen (Bob) of Yankton, and George Blakey (Diane) of Sioux Falls. 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Thelma Blakey, sons: Kelly, John, Geames Jr. and Jayson, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
