Doree Conkey, 91, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on April 11, 2025.  A Celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Southern Hills Baptist Church.  A private family burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Doree was born on April 25, 1933 in Rodney, IA to Cecil and Ernestine (Hagerdon) Johns.  She graduated from Sioux City East High and was united in marriage to Duane Conkey on November 2, 1952.  Together they made their home in Sioux City, other than a short time in Seneca, Kansas.  Doree worked at Countryside Retirement Home as the bookkeeper for over 23 years.  During her retirement she volunteered at Unity Point and other area clinics for years.  She also worked for Christy Smith Funeral and was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 72 years, Duane Conkey; children: Charisse (Don) Klein, Joel (Debbie Sachau) Conkey, and Scott (Wendy Baker) Conkey; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nalene Paul.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Hills Baptist Church Missions Fund.
