Donna Dorene Allen, 85, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home with family present. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Donna Dorene Meadows was born April 10, 1930 in Sioux City, IA, to Ray and Goldie Luella (Aaby) Meadows. She grew up around Sioux City most of her life, except for a few years when her father got a job in El Monte, CA where her mother passed away in 1941. A few years later he brought his children back to Sioux City.
On October 1, 1946, Donna married Clifford Donald Allen in South Sioux City, NE. Cliff preceded her in death on September 3, 2005 after 59 years of marriage.
Donna was employed at Interbake Foods of North Sioux City, SD for over 26 years. After her retirement, she helped raise her grandchildren while her daughter, Nancy, worked. Donna became a second mom to Ernie, Angie, Cindy, and Tony. In her spare time, she loved to do find the word puzzle books, made great apple pies and was here to help us all. As of late, she watched a lot of TV, especially Blue Bloods and Chicago Fire because they had her "hunks" Tom Selleck and Taylor Kinney starring in them. She was a delight to us all.
Left to miss and love her are her daughter Pat Murrary of Sioux City, her siblings: Patty Wrettling of Escondido, CA, Phyllis (Robert) Jones of Newport Beach, CA, grandchildren: Ernest (Johnnie) Manley of Nashville, NC, Angela (Chad) Morgan of Moville, IA, Teresa (Jim) Simeon of Wayne, NE, Chad (Jenny) Murray of Storm Lake, IA. grandchildren from Sioux City are: Cindy (Craig) Verbeski, Tony (Bobbie) Beamon, CJ (Sue) Murray; great grandchildren: Charlee (Scott) Grover, Alicia (Colton) Baker, Jessi (Tristan) Eyer, Chris McKnight, Josh McKnight, Katie Verbeski, Carrisa (Matt) Clausen, Calin Murray, Makenna and Alyssah Murray, Michael Mapes, Thomas Mapes and Gerry Mapes, Jimmy Ray Simeon, and Juston (fiance Nicole) Simeon of Wayne, NE, Devon Beamon of Bel Fourche, SD, Justin Coon of Nashville, NC, Lyric Taylor, Shelby Parrish of South Sioux City, NE; great great grandchildren: Connor, Ian, Axal and Drake Grover. Janessa Simeon, Rylee and Dylan Eyer, Aiden and Chloe McKnight, Jace Clausen, Davyan and Kyson Coon, and Kyra Baker and Desmond Mapes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Donald Ray Allen, daughter Nancy Ellen Beamon, future son-in-law Charlie Reed, son-in-law Clyde Murray, siblings Beverly Miller, Barbara Thompson and Lorren Meadows, and several Uncles and Aunts.
