Donald J. “Jeff” Holstein, 69 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at a local hospital. Celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2024, from 2-5pm at the Gull Point State Park Lodge in West Okoboji, Iowa.

Jeff was born July 29, 1954, in Iowa the son of Donald and Donna Holstein. In 1972 he graduated from Alta High School, where he was a Iowa State Champ in his Junior and Senior years. Jeff married Patsy Jean Bleafdll on April 9, 1983, and went on to continue his education at Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge.

He was an assistance manager of Walgreens downtown Sioux City, later he became the manager. Jeff moved back to Alta where he worked with his dad operating a tank wagon, he then went to work for Holstein Trucking, Port Neal, and Iowa Public Services and later at Mid-American Energy retiring in February of 2019. In his retirement years Jeff had a lawn service with Kirk Merchant.

Jeff enjoyed mowing and doing inside and outside painting, watching sports, and was avid Iowa State and Chiefs fan. In 1992 Jeff and Patsy bought a lake house in Okoboji where they considered their neighbors like family.

He is survived by his mother, Donna, wife, Patsy, daughter, Ashley, and a brother-in-law, John Chirinos.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Holstein, sister, Jody Chirinos, infant sister, and his cat Frankie in 2019.
