Donald G. Berg, 82 of North Sioux City, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at a Sioux City care facility. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 pm Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm.

Donald Guy Berg was born on September 21, 1940, in Lodi, California the son of Einar and Isabelle (Means) Berg. Donald graduated from East High School in Sioux City.

In October of 1957, Don joined the Iowa Air National Guard and served three years with the 185th Materiel Squadron as an aircraft jet flight mechanic. After his Honorable Discharge, he had many hobbies which included working on race cars with Terry Taggert, playing golf, going to the races with his grandson, Corey and displaying his classic cars with his wife Cathy at many car shows.

He began his employment at Kraft Foods where he met his first wife, Roanne and her daughter Pam. Don adopted Pam when she was two years old and raised her as his own. He was employed for several years at the Brothers Paper Box Company, and then he began his career at UPS for over 30 years until his retirement. Don was a good friend of Bill W. and was very giving and enjoyed helping others through difficult times of their life. On February 7, 1987, he married Cathy Holmberg. Don was a member of the North Sioux City American Legion Post 319.

Don is survived by his wife Cathy; his daughter Pamela (Pierre) Doyon; grandchildren Rachel (Jesus) Castaneda and Corey Aguirre; great grandchildren Kelsey Doyon, Khloe Castaneda, David Castaneda and Abraham Castaneda.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Berg and Gerald Berg.
