Donald A. “Don” Freed, 62 of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his residence.
Memorial service will be held 10 am Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Hanneman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Don was born on June 12, 1948 in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Donald Freed, Sr., and Catherine Delutri. His mother later remarried Walter Zobel of Ida Grove, Iowa. In 1966, he joined the Marines serving in Viet Nam. He was an over the road trucker, driving from coast to coast. Later, he worked for several propane companies in Iowa and Minnesota as a locator for gas, electrical and water lines.
Don was united in marriage to Margaret (Nee) Breyfogle. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.
Don is survived by his wife Margaret; two daughters, Janine Freed of Loveland, Colorado and Michelle and her husband Mike Porter of Ida Grove, Iowa; two step-daughters, Paige Petersen of Sioux City and Wendy and her husband Brian Jackson of Sioux City; one step-son, Jeffrey Petersen of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father.
