Donald R. “Don” Foster, 77 of North Sioux City, South Dakota, died Monday, September 4, 2017.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Monday, Sept. 11th Realife Assembly Church 305 S. Derby Lane. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Donald Ray Foster was born on October 9, 1939 in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Elsworth and Effie (Levine) Foster.
Don was united in marriage to Leola Rae Norton on April 6, 1958. Don served in the Army and after his honorable discharge, worked at Gomaco in Ida Grove, Advanced Industries in Sioux City and retired from Burnight Glass & Porcelain Co. During the years, he worked as a carpenter, mechanic and machinist. Don was known as a jack of all trades.
During his years at Advanced Industries, he played on the softball company team. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting archery and playing golf. He was also on a bowling team.
Don is survived by his sons, Tim Foster and Murray Foster; his daughters, Sandra Bellows of Sioux City and Susan Johnson of North Sioux City, 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Leola, 2 great-grandchildren, his parents, 3 brothers Alvin, Leonard and Robert Foster and 1 sister, Lois Florke.
