Obituary

Dolores P. Lang, 88, of Sioux City, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation and viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue.

Dolores, known by her family as Lala was born on March 17, 1926 in Sioux City, the daughter of Juan and Felictita (Arcinaga) Aguirre. She attended Central High School, and on May 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Howard Alfred Lang, a navel career man of World War II and the Korean conflict.

Dolores worked at various places during the years, including with the Standard Brand Egg Plant, the Kresge Store, Woolworth, Sheridan Martin Hotel, as well as private housekeeping services. In 1974 she retired to care for her ailing husband and other family members.

Dolores was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a volunteer worker for the DAV, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dolores is survived by her sons, Ron Lang of Olympia, Washington, Joseph (Ana) Lang of Mexico, Michael Lang of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Bruce Lang of Tulsa, Oklahoma and David (Pamela) Lang of Sioux City; her daughter, Pamela Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her brother Roman (Mercie) Aguirre of Omaha, Nebraska and her sisters, Josephine Nelson of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Phyllis (John ) Coon of Sioux City, Iowa

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, two brothers, Luciano “Shano” Aguirre and Deno Aguirre, one sister, Mary Ann “Lupe” Smith, a daughter Mary Patricia Meadows, and her two grandsons, Jonathan Brown and Phillip Lewis.
