Dixie Doll Moran, of Correctionville, Iowa, passed away on May 24, 2025. She was born in Fullerton, California, on March 3, 1949 and graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1967. She later pursued hospital records transcription studies at Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC). Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Although she was born in California, Dixie found her true home in Correctionville, Iowa. She moved to the small town and quickly became a cherished part of the community. Dixie embraced Correctionville’s quiet charm, close knit relationships, and the neighborly spirit that defined the town.

At the core of Dixie’s life was her love for her sons, Ken and Darin Moran. Her pride in the men they became was immeasurable and heard in every conversation whenever she spoke of them. Being their mother was not only her greatest joy, but the legacy she cherished the most deeply.

Dixie came from a large family with five brothers and one sister, and she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Angela) Moran and Darin (Mande) Moran; grandchildren Danyel Moran, Erica Moran, Dakotah Sanders, Sydney Price, Krista Watkins, Brady Watkins, Brandon Watkins, and Kara Moran; and great-grandchildren Violet Moran, Julia Moran, Noah Spain, and Kaylee Spain. She also leaves behind many dear friends she considered family.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Henry Sonderup and Thelma Doris Sonderup and her brothers and sister.

She will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her generous spirit, and above all else, the strength with which she lived her life. Dixie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
