Dessie R Redman of Sioux City died Saturday at a local care facility.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 9 at the Tabernacle Church 610 Center Street in Sioux City with burial following in Logan Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Dessie was born on July 2, 1950 in Yantley, Alabama, the daughter of Willie James and Jessie P. (Johnson) Ford. In 1970 she was united in marriage with Henry Redman and to this union two daughters were born.
Dessie lived in the St. Louis, Missouri for many years working as a clerk in a grocery store as well as serving as a home health aide. The family moved to Sioux City in the early 1990’s. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family, as well as playing Bingo. Dessie was a member of the Tabernacle Church.
She will be missed by her family which includes her loving husband of 40 years Henry of Sioux City, her two beautiful daughters Latonya and LaToya both of Sioux City, her father Rev. Willie James Ford of Sioux City, her three brothers: Jessie Ford of Sioux City, Glen Ford of Lincoln, NE.; and Elder Harvey Ford of Memphis, Tn.; her three sisters Bessie Douglas of Sacramento, CA.; Darline Phillips of Antioch, CA.; and Carolyn Ford of Sioux City. She is also survived by her granddaughter LaViah Redman of Sioux City.
Dessie was preceded in death by her mother Jessie.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be given in her name to the charity of the givers choice or to the family.
