Dennis Luverne Whittecar, age 65, of Sioux City passed away on Monday February 18, 2013 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday February 25, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Military services will be offered by the United States Navy at the conclusion of the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 pm with a prayer service held at 7:00pm at the church. Dennis was born on August 18, 1947 in Sioux City, the son of Luverne and Esther (Wink) Whittecar. He grew up in the Moville area, graduating from Woodbury Central High School in1965. Following school, he served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War.
He was united in marriage with Lori Dunagan on July 27, 1985 in Sioux City. The couple lived in the Sioux City area until moving to Arizona in 2001, and returned to Sioux City in 2010 following his retirement as a truck driver.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Dennis was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears, he shared his love of the Bears, with everyone he came into contact with. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and relished those special moments he had with those he loved.
Dennis will be missed by his family which includes his wife Lori of Sioux City, his two sons: Jason Whittecar and his wife Kayo of Seattle, Washington and Nick Whittecar of Phoenix, Arizona, his three daughters: Abby Whittecar of Moville, Amanda Whittecar of Sioux City, and Minda Kincaid and her husband Daniel of Sioux City. He is also survived by his sister Deanna Whittecar of Palm Springs, California, his seven grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jordan, Jacy, Riley, Senna, Suzuka, and Treyton, and his parents-in-law Bruce and Mary Hunt of Sergeant Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
