Dennis P. (Denny) Ryan, 63, of Sioux City, Iowa died Monday, March 12, 2018 at his residence. Memorial Services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 4400 Central Street, Sioux City, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.


Dennis was born September 28, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Frank and Opal (Shook) Ryan. He grew up in South Sioux City, graduating from South Sioux City High School. Denny continued his education at WITCC in the Truck Driving Program. He married Diane Sexton. They later divorced.
Over the years, Denny drove bus for the school district, tractor trailer for Goodwill, and up until his retirement he drove bus for Sioux City Transit.

Denny loved to go cycling, especially Ragbrai and mountain biking. In his younger years, he enjoyed speed skating and coached a girl’s speed skating team.

Survivors include a son, Jessie Ryan of Sioux City and a daughter, Angie (Dan) Hoxsie of Sioux City; 4 grandchildren, Zane, Mariah, Shayla and Sienna; 2 step-grandchildren, Blake and Jacob; and 2 sisters, Marcia and Kelly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Patrick.
