Deloris "Laurie" Peterson, 86, of Jefferson, SD, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Canistota, SD. Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 30, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with Rev. Del Olivier officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Laurie was born on July 17, 1930 in Stevens, SD to Fred and Mabel (Williams) Eastman Sr. She married Richard Nelson on August 19, 1949 and they later divorced. Laurie married Richard Peterson on April 26, 1983, he passed away in 1990.

Laurie worked for Zenith Manufacturing for many years and later for Izaak Walton League Bingo Hall for 30 plus years, retiring in January of 2014.

Family was very important to Laurie. She grew up in a large family and loved spending time with all, especially her grandchildren. Laurie was never one to sit at home, she was always ready for any adventure. She enjoyed playing bingo, as well as working bingo. She also enjoyed going fishing and camping, mostly at Whetstone Bay. Laurie spent many winters traveling with Richard in their motor home, attending snowmobiling races that he would enter.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Pam) Nelson of Longmont, CO, David (Julie) Nelson of Sioux City, and Julie (Marty) McGlothlen of Jefferson, SD; step daughters, Roni and Jamie; sisters, Maxine Gant of Sioux City and Cathy Rasmussen of McCook Lake; grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Nicole, and Victoria; and great grandchildren, Keeley, Vanessa, and Shawnah.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred Jr. and Roy; and sisters, Bernice and Jean
