Delma was born September 28, 1938 in Bloomfield, NE, the daughter of Harry K. and Marry Louise (Campbell) Saul. Delma lived in Hobocreek until moving to Sioux City at the age of 4. She attended Hobson School in Sioux City and St. Augustine Catholic School in Winnebago, Nebraska. Jack and Delma moved back to Santee, NE until Jack’s passing in February of 2002, he was her life-long companion. They will always be remembered for putting a smile on children’s faces. Delma and Jack always handed out Schwans ice cream treats to the neighborhood kids. She enjoyed life, disregarding her life-long circumstances. She became a resident of Matney Manor in July of 2003. Delma was a full blood Dakota woman and a proud member of the Santee Sioux Nation. She loved going to church, listening to gospel hymns, loved to sing and her parting words “God bless you and be careful.”
She is survived by her son Michael E. Saul, Sr. of Santee, NE., grandson Michael E. Saul, Jr. and his wife Lacey, three great grandsons: Jordan Micahel, Kota Shay, and Ivan Tyrone Saul, brothers John Big Eagle and his wife Judy of Sioux City, sister Leona Davis of Sioux City, and two special nieces Lily Medina and Brenda Wabasha, and many nieces and nephews.
Delma was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Saul, three brothers Glen, Joseph, and Jerry Saul, three sisters Maxine Wabasha, and Joyce and Bonnie in infancy, and her life-long companion Jack Wabasha.
