Deanna A. Gartner, 78 of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at a local care facility. Services will be held 10:30am Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, Iowa. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Thursday, July 27, 2023 with a prayer service at 7pm at the funeral home.

Deanna worked for Woolco Dept. Store in Sioux City for several years. From there she managed Ardans in Sioux City and Witchita, Kansas until it closed. They returned to Sioux City and Deanna worked for Bomgaars until opening her restaurant "Main Street Grill" in Hornick, Iowa until December 2008. Deanna did a lot of catering in the area with the help of her sisters.

Throughout the years Deanna and George also took in several foster children.

Deanna was devoted to God and her family. Whether it was through her cooking, her conversation, or her loving hugs, Deanna was a mother to everyone that she met. She is greatly loved and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Survivors include her granddaughter Kayli (Matt) Reed; her sisters Donna Klemme of Akron, Iowa, Dixie (Steve) Carda of Las Crusis, New Mexico, Deb Hyer of Le Mars, Iowa, Dawn (Tom) Beaulieu of Hinton, Iowa, Darlene Hast of Sioux City, Iowa, Darla (Julee) Anson, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Denise (Vern) Plum of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her brothers Donny Dawdy of Indiana, Doug (Kathy) Dawdy of Onawa, Iowa; sister-in-law Terry Dawdy of Onawa, Iowa, Lori (Willard) Dahl of Onawa, Iowa; son-in-law Larry (Kim) Carda and their children; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband George; her daughter Merinda Carda, great-grandson Presley Reed; her parents; her brothers Daniel Dawdy Sr., Dean Dawdy, and Dennis Dawdy; sister-in-law Diane Dawdy; brothers-in-law Ed Hyer and Merlyn Klemme.
