Dean V. DeWall, 79 of Sioux City, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Navy. Visitation one hour prior at the church.
Dean Vernon DeWall was born on July 25, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Carl and Della (Volga) DeWall. In 1957 he graduated from East High School. Dean left Sioux City at that time where he then resided and worked in Omaha, NE.
Dean enlisted in the Navy in 1960 and served 24 years retired in 1984 with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer . During 1976 he underwent Petty Officer Leadership School and passed the college level examining program .He was a Vietnam War Veteran. After retiring from the service, he worked in California until 2003 when he returned to Sioux City. Dean was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
He is survived by his brother Gary DeWall of Placerville, California and two sisters, Barbara Pfifer of Ontario California and Judith Otte of Riverside, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
