Dawn Marie Coenen, 55, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on December 13, 2023 at Unity Point Health, where her daughter Nicole works.  A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at The Leeds Alano Club, 4034 Floyd Blvd, Sioux City, IA.  Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is assisting the family.

Dawn was born on January 10, 1968 in Sioux City, IA to John and Peggy (Waddell) Yingst. She graduated from high school and went on to receive her nursing degree.  Dawn worked as a LPN at both hospitals in Sioux City, as a home health nurse and as a traveling nurse.  She was united in marriage to Raymond Coenen on August 1, 1989 in Elk Point, SD.  Dawn enjoyed playing games on her phone and watching her TV shows.  She loved spending time with her daughters and 3 favorite cats.  She lived vicariously through her daughters and always wanted the best for them.  She loved being able to spend Tuesdays and Thursdays with her grandsons.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Raymond Coenen, daughters: Nicole Coenen, Kelsey (Zach) Lara, and Payton Coenen; grandchildren: Lilly, Anthony and Alex; brothers: Denny, David and Danny Mark Yingst; sister, Delight Kretlow; special nieces, Melissa Frank and Chris Rios; and several more nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; best friend, Tracy; and sisters; Delight Yingst and Candy Hanson.
