David Frederick Treglia Jr. age 76, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2014 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday August 31, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City 4125 Orleans Avenue with Rev. Roger Madden officiating.. Interment will be held at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-7 pm and will resume Sunday one hour prior to the service. David was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 10, 1938,the son of David F. and Mabel (Daniels) Treglia Sr. He attended Sioux City Community Schools. He was united in marriage with Beverly Hilsinger and to this union he had five children. In 1993, he married Barbara (Hindman) Thiele.
He worked at Great Plains Processing for many years, he then became employed with the South Sioux City Schools. Following his retirement, Dave began working at Dakota Dunes Country Club where he worked for an additional seven years.
Dave took up golf at the age of 70, and fell in love with the sport. He also played softball for many years, and was a horseshoe thrower, and bowled until December of 2013. He bowled a 299 game at a time where it was difficult to bowl a perfect 300 game. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. He and Barb had many stories to tell about their fishing and camping excursions. All of children got their love of camping from Dave.
His life and memories will always be remembered by his family which includes his wife and soul mate Barbara “Barbie Doll”, his children: Lorrie Jeffords (Mark Pauley) Tyrone, Rob (Denise) all of North Sioux City, David (Denise) of Council Bluffs, Reta Thiele (Dave Hemmingson) of North Sioux City, Raye Vollmer (Bob Vakulskas) , Ed (Jena) Thiele of Sioux City, DeAnna (Dan) Schmitt, of Homer, Nebraska, Matthew (Hailey) Thiele of Grimes, Iowa, and Aaron (Jenn) Thiele of South Sioux City, Nebraska. He is also survived by his sisters: Beverly Grover of Sioux City and De Cuppertino (John) of Toledo, Ohio, plus his 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Tony, great grandson Baby William Fehl, granddaughter Tiffany Schmidt, brothers: Joe and Rich, and sisters Bertha “June” O’Hara and Julie Yokes.
Sir”Dave” would want to send a HUGE Thank You to all the nurses on the Onocolgy floor at Mercy Medical Center. Their amazing care and support for the whole family made his 8 month battle bearable.
