Obituary

The spirit and soul of David John Tagstrom, age 69, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on May 17, 2014 in Stockton, California due to an illness of pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday May 30, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with Pastor Dan Doran officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. David was born at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City on March 26, 1945, the son of Bertel (Swede) and Carlene (Annable) Tagstrom.

David attended Emerson elementary, West Junior High and Central High School, where he graduated in 1963. While he was in high school he worked at Hart, Schaffner, and Marx men’s clothing store and as a desk clerk at the Holiday Inn. In 1964, he moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to work as a desk clerk at the Broadmoor Hotel where he met many celebrities. He worked at various jobs in Arizona and California, and then went to business school in New Jersey to study computer programming. He then moved back to California where he worked at various companies, including the state of California, Electronic Data Systems and retired from H.P. Enterprise Services in July of 2012. His special interest was the history of architecture and studied many books on that subject.

David is survived by his mother Carlene of Sioux City, ten beautiful brothers and sisters: Carol Tagstrom and Susan Ohlendorf both of Ames, Iowa, June Hubert of Sioux City, Paul and his wife Debbie of Wynstone, South Dakota, Dan and his wife Judy of McCook Lake, South Dakota, Robert and his wife Shirley, Tim of Marshalltown, Iowa, Bruce Tagstrom, and Barth Tagstrom both of Sioux City, and Alan and his wife Bobbie of Redmond, Washington. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews: Brian, Andrew, Jeremy, Chris (Karen), Jason, Karen E. (Steve), Mary Tagstrom, Laura (Scott) Day, Brenda Ohlendorf, and Carrie Jo (Tony) Ball. Three great nieces and nephews: Marie and Michael Day, August Ball, and Chris and Karens baby to be born in July.
