David L. Rasmussen, 77, of Homer, NE passed away December 29, 2024 peacefully at his home after a lengthy health battle. A visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 4-6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Homer, NE. A memorial service will be Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
David was born June 2, 1947, in Sioux City, IA to Donald Rasmussen and Margaret (Gotch) Rasmussen. David attended country school and graduated from Homer High School in 1965. He graduated from trade school in Milford, NE and was later drafted into the army. He served in the military police during the Vietnam era. David was very proud of his military service and was a 50-year member of the American Legion Buckland Post 97 and served as Commander for 16 years.
David married Della Lindahl September 1, 1973, and they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. David and Della had three children. They resided on the family farm and David farmed as his health allowed.
David is survived by his wife Della; daughters: Linda (Brent) Meyer and Lisa (Josh) Harral; son, Dave Rasmussen; and grandchildren: Emelia, Colton, Carson and Evan. He is also survived by his brother Kent Rasmussen; sister, Rita (Chuck) Peterson; sister-in-law, Eileen Rasmussen; brothers-in-law: Larry (Mary) Lindahl and John (Diane) Lindahl; special nephew Mike Lindahl, and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Russell Rasmussen.
