David D. Hankins, Sr. 66 of South Sioux City died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, while being a good Samaritan trying to help others.
Memorial services will be held 11:00amThursday, December 14, 2023, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service time. To honor Dave please come dressed in any Sports attire.
David (Dave) Dwayne Hankins Sr. was born April 27, 1957, in Sioux City, IA. He was born to Lorraine (Bellis) Heezen, and later in life stepfather Lyle Heezen. He graduated from West High School in 1976. He then married the love of his life Cindy Wilde. They had 4 beautiful children. He worked for Mallory USA for several years before they closed. Currently he is semi-retired working part time for Gerkin Windows.
Dave served in the United States 185th Army National Guard as a Combat Medic for 13 years. He aided in the disaster of flight 232.
Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved anything sports, hunting, taking care of his yard, golfing, coaching his kids/grandkids baseball and softball and listening to Classic Rock music.
Dave was a diehard Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
David (Dave) Dwayne Hankins Sr. is survived by his wife Cindy Hankins, Mother Lorraine Heezen, His son David (Laura) Hankins Jr, daughters Stephanie McDonald, Angie (Shain) Hanks, Jessica (Jesse) Perez and Honorary daughter Heather Porterfield. His brother Don Hankins, Sister Deb (Ron) Derby. Grandchildren Austin (Emily) Hankins, Tanya (Sammy) Hopkins, Hunter Hanks/girlfriend Maegan, Kylee Perez, Grayson Cowan, Chloe Cowan-Hankins and many grand/great grandchildren.
Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved anything sports, Hunting, taking care of his yard, Golfing, coaching his kids/grandkids baseball and softball and listening to Classic Rock music.
Dave was a diehard Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Jordan Perez, son-in-law, Mathew McDonald and stepfather, Lyle Heezen and many other loved ones.
