David “Dave” Charles Crawford, 64, of Sioux City, IA, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at his home with his sisters Mary and Sandra by his bedside. He was not in pain and didn’t walk the path alone. Burial will take place at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Dave was born on December 20, 1961 to Howard and Marilyn (Overman) Crawford in Sioux City, IA. He enlisted into the Army Reserves in 1978 when he was 17 years old, and received an honorable discharge in 1988. He collected coke memorabilia and swords. Dave loved cats and old cars and could always been seen riding his scooter in downtown Sioux City.
Those left to honor his memory include his three sisters: Mary Crawford, Julia (Shelly) Crawford, and Sandra Downs all of Sioux City, IA, four step-siblings: Terry (Howard) Moss of West Branch, IA, Jo Ellynn (Robert) Petersen of Pearce, AZ, Jerry (Mildred) Petersen of Tampa, FL, and Darwin Petersen of Sacrament, CA, six nieces and nephews: Tahirah Crawford of Sioux Falls, SD, Cicero (Rosa) Downs and their two children, Vessie and Henry of Sioux City, IA, K.C. (Van) Crawford and their two children, Cameron and Chase of San Diego, CA, T.J. (Danielle) Crawford and their children, Zoe and Tyler of San Diego, CA, J.D. Crawford and his son, Jaxson of Phoenix, AZ, Dana (Lydia) Crawford and their child Angus of Sioux City, IA, Tawnya (Todd) Torres and their three children, Ryan, Kendra, and Jordan of Michigan, Tim (Cassandra) Moss and their two children, Alex and Albert of West Branch, IA.
He is preceded in death by his mother Marilyn; father, Howard, step-mother, Elizabeth; grandparents: Charles (Anna) Crawford, and John (Margarite) Overman; sister, Deanna Crawford; niece, Racheal Petersen; two nephews, Matthew Bratten, and Jesse Petersen; brother-in-law, Henry Downs, Sr.; and several aunts and uncles.
