David John Blutt, 89, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2026 surrounded by his family. There will be a celebration of his life on October 31, 2026 in Central Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
David was born in Sioux City, IA to Jacob and Florence (Brence) Blutt. He graduated from East High School and was united in marriage to Lavone Strong in November 1955; they shared 70 wonderful years together. David enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. He worked as a surveyor for the Railroad from 1957 until his retirement in 1990. David loved the outdoors, gardening, landscaping projects and ‘playing in the dirt.’ He was an all around handyman and was always the first to jump up and help anyone in need-friends, family, or stranger. David’s grandchildren, Tara and Peter, were the apple of his eye.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, LaVonne Blutt; sons: Tim (Jeanne) Blutt and Mike Blutt; grandchildren: Tara (Steven) Lamb and Peter (Heather) Blutt; great-grandchildren: Hayden Blutt, Stormie Williams, Liam Blutt and Aubrey Blutt; and sister, Janice (Jay) Beckenbach.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Donald, John (Jackie), and sister, Dorothy.
