Davey Kennedy, 74, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on March 6, 2024.  A private graveside service will be held at Sloan Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. With Military Honors provided by the United States Army.

Davey was born on August 20, 1949, in Salina, KS to CJ and Geneve (Walker) Kennedy.  He graduated from Salina High School in 1967 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1969, where he served until being honorably discharged in 1971.  Davey began working at Santa Fe Railroad in 1967 as a freight carman, Santa Fe then became Burlington Northern and Davey retired in 2009.  He was united in marriage to Kathy Ward on May 2, 1990.  Davey loved his dog Millie Sioux, old cars, car racing, fishing, and music.  He was a strong, kind man and will be missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kathy Kennedy; twin brother, Danny (Carol) Kennedy; brother, James (Lois) Kennedy; and his father-in-law, Harold Ward, who has been his best friend for the past several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings:  Robert, Dorothy, Wilma, and Melba.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or any local animal rescue group in honor of Davey.
