Darwin Herman Boisen, 66, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away at his home on June 27, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held at the Warrior Hotel in the Cardinal Room, 525 6th Street Sioux City, Iowa, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, Iowa.
Darwin was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 29, 1959 to Lowell and Mary (Hildebrand) Boisen. .
Darwin worked as a surgery tech at St. Luke’s for several years but finished his career in the healthcare field as a supervisor for Mid-Step Services. It was in this capacity that he excelled and developed great friendships with coworkers and clients.
Darwin enjoyed grilling and became a master at the grill. Darwin was well loved by his family and friends and enjoyed having them over for his delicious grilled foods. He enjoyed taking long rides in the country with his close friends listening to music and appreciating the beautiful countryside. Darwin worked tirelessly in his flower beds to bring them to full bloom.
Darwin is survived by his lifelong partner of over 30 years, James (Jim) Edwards; brothers: David (Jeanne), Doug (Allison) and Danny (Vicky); sister, Diane (Dale) Gengler; his grandchildren: Allysa, Thomas and Jessica and Jim’s grandchildren: River, Sage and Hayzion.
Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Mary Boisen; son, Justin Boisen and brother, Danny.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Unity Point-St. Luke’s Downtown for the great care he received while in the hospital. Also, a thank you to St. Croix Hospice for your services.
