Darrell L. Hunt, 72 of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 peacefully at his home.
Memorial services will be noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion Post 64, 1501 Geneva St., in Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Darrell Lee Hunt was born on September 23, 1942 in Sioux City, the son of Darrell and Maxine (Edwards) Hunt. He joined the Marine Corps in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Returning to Sioux City, he was a truck driver for Traum Sand & Gravel. Most recently he was a journeyman working at the Sioux City Journal. Due to an injury, he retired due to his disability.
Darrell was a outdoors man, enjoying fishing and hunting. He liked to whittle and make wooden canes. Darrell enjoyed visiting with his friends around the bon fire throughout the years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan.
Darrell is survived by his wife Ellen Hunt of Sergeant Bluff; 4 sons, Troy and his fiancée Angela Doren of Clinton, Minnesota, Terry Hunt of Bellevue, Nebraska, Brent Hunt of Sioux City and Jon Hunt of Sioux City; 1 daughter, Charmin Twinn of Sioux City; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
