Darlene A. Eaton, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her residence. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Darlene was born on February 19, 1932 in Monowi, Nebraska, the daughter of Emerson and Amelia (Buettner) Johnson. She graduated high school in Lynch, Nebraska. Darlene married James Eaton on February 22, 1951.
Darlene had an in-home daycare while raising her six boys. She worked at Weller Plastics making fishing tackle and then later at True Value Hardware for many years. Darlene enjoyed gardening, flowers, shopping, rummages, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Darlene was a active member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed making quilts and pies for the church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of Sioux City; sons, Jim Jr. Eaton of Sioux City, Mike (Vicki) Eaton of Washington, Steve (Julie) Eaton of Sioux City, Ron (Lynne) Eaton of Sioux City, Tim Eaton of Renner, South Dakota, and Rob (Deb) Eaton of Arizona; brothers, Franklin Johnson of O'Neill, Nebraska, and LeRoy (Rosemary) Johnson of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters, Lucille (Chuck) Faughender of Pierce, Nebraska, and Beverly (Bob) Boes of Gregory, South Dakota; ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Heather, Hollie, Lisa, Sara, Stevie, Angie, Ronnie, Ashley, and Mandi; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Amelia Johnson; three brothers, Milton, Marvin, and Donald Johnson; and two sisters, Joyce and Alyene Crosley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Siouxland for the excellent care they gave to Darlene.
