Obituary

Daren W. Young, 72, of Sioux City, IA, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3204 S. Lakeport St. Sioux City, Iowa. Military Honors will be provided by United States Army and American Legion Post 662. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Daren William Young was born February 12, 1954 in Chamberlain, South Dakota. He attended grade school in Coalville, IA and attended East High School before he enlisted in the Army. Daren was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church May 5th, 1968. He was united in marriage to Priscilla Kay Sievers on August 28th, 1976 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

The couple lived in Sioux City and raised three children. Daren worked at AMC Motors and Charlie Zook Motors. He also had a body shop, DND body shop with another partner where he painted and fixed cars. His last job he had was a sheet metal worker at Interstate Mechanical.

Daren was involved with the American Legion (Post 64) and was a Vice Commander. He was a member of the Eagles Club #77 and became the president. He also was a member of the River City Anglers. He enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips. He and the family enjoyed being involved with the Guns and Garters. His ultimate passion was spending time with his kids and grandkids,

Daren is survived by his wife, Priscilla, children, Tim (Heidi), Robbie (Alyssa), Cassandra (fiance Blake), grandkids, Xavier, Oliver, Zaliegh, and Jameson, sister Fay (Brent) Weitzel, brother-in-law Danny Kuhlmann, and William Young, and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Louis and Wilma Young, sister Lois Kuhlmann, and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Merle Brown.
