Danny “Dan” R. Goosmann, 73, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.  A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Dan was born on November 5, 1951, in Willmar, MN to Kenneth and Joyce (Foster) Goosmann.  He was united in marriage to Mickey Smith on February 3, 1978, in Elk Point, SD, they shared 52 wonderful years together. Dan was a man of many talents and trades, some of which were in his younger years. He owned and operated his own roofing company. He then later partnered with his brother Mike, and they were co-owners and operated Meier Auto Salvage for many years. Like one of many, he had a need for speed. Starting at a young age with a passion for motorcycles. That lead into stock car racing, and it evolved into his love for sprint car racing. Racing ran deep in his blood and a passion that he shared with many friends and family, especially his grandsons. Outside of racing one of Dan's hobbies was playing guitar. He was a talented self-taught guitar player. Dan’s greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.  He would play on the floor for hours and teach the kids things about life; there was never a doubt of his love. He was a man whose silence spoke volumes, yet whose words never ceased.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mickey Goosmann; son, Joel Lee Goosmann; daughters: Mindy (Matt) Weston, Sara Goosmann; mother, Joyce Goosmann; siblings: Doug (Sherry) Goosmann, Dennis Goosmann, and Karen (Mike) DeRocher; grandchildren: Ellyn, Lauren, Joel, Cohen, and Lucas; great-grandchildren: Braelynn and Kinzimae; and many treasured friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; brother, Mike; nephew, Kelly; and twin grandsons: Damen and Orion.
