Danny “Dan” “Dirt” Clyde Robinson, 67, of Merrill, IA, passed away July 25, 2026 after a long battle with cancer and multiple health challenges. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A light lunch will be provided following the service.
Dan was born on November 23, 1958 in Sioux City, IA to Clyde Jr. and Beverly (Buter) Robinson. In 1977, He graduated from Le Mars High School and went on to receive his associate's degree in food management. He was united in marriage to Kathy Lynn Klave in 1981. Together they had two children, Sarah and Kyle and while they later divorced, their relationship remained amicable. Throughout his life he helped his parents run The Steak Block, a family restaurant. He then went on to receive a certificate in meat cutting at Western Iowa Tech and ran the meat counter at Cub Foods; making their house products including: sausage, brats, and jerky from scratch. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and giving tips on how to improve the cooking of loved ones.
Those left to honor his memory include his mom, Beverly Robinson; children: Sarah (Ben Carter) Robinson and Kyle Robinson; grandchildren: Jackson, Miles, and Madelyn; siblings: Julie VanEvera, Lori Shannon, Jeff (Janet) Robinson, and Alan Robinson; former wife/friend, Kathy Robinson; his aunts and uncles as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law (Tim Shannon).
