Obituary

Daniel R. Ricker, 76 of Sioux City, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at a local care facility.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at Floyd Cemetery, with Military Rites provided by the US Navy. Visitation 4-8 pm Tuesday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue, with the family present 6-8 pm and the Vigil Service at 7 pm.

Daniel was born on July 13, 1938 in Yuba City, California. Daniel was raised by his grandparents in Sioux City, Ralph and Ethel Ricker. He graduated in 1957 from Central High School. After graduation, he joined the Navy and was received his honorable discharge in 1961. On June 15, 1962 Daniel was united in marriage to Barbara Osterholt.

Daniel worked for a brief time for the Sioux City School Board. He then worked at the Ralston Purina Company in Sioux City for 25 years, retiring in 1993.

Daniel greatest joy was his family, and especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. He likes to grill outdoors mow during the summers. For a while, interest included tended to his hybrid iris plants. Daniel enjoyed NASCAR, collecting miniature Harley Davidson motorcycle diecasts models. He enjoyed going to the Professional Bull Riding events. The 4th of July was his favorite holiday.

Daniel is survived by his three sons, Dean (Pamela) Ricker of Sioux City, Mark (Jeanette) Ricker of Sioux City and Andrew Ricker of Inwood, Iowa; his two daughters, Susan (Neil) Fracisco of Sioux City and Cindy (Kent) Beaudette of St. Paul, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and one brother, Russ (Kathy) Gundry) of Placerville, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara “Bones” Ricker in 1989, his parents, grandparents Ralph and Ethel Ricker, his aunt, Vera Luden, and one granddaughter, Jenilee Ricker.
