Daniel "Dean" Mathey

Daniel "Dean" Mathey 56 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away after a courageous 19-month battle with Colon Cancer on Saturday, October 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Waterbury Funeral Services of Sioux City. There will also be a celebration of life in White Lake, SD on November 22, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, with a luncheon to follow at the White Lake Community Center. In honor of Dean, please wear your favorite Iowa Hawkeyes attire.

Dean was born August 6, 1969 to Dan and Lois (Krumvieda) Mathey in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Lawton School District and had worked at several places throughout Siouxland.

He was a Restaurant Manager at Theo's Steakhouse, also worked at East Acres Tire Shop, Ben Fish Tire and helped Mrla Farms and Brian McNaughton. Dean was a great help to his brother Dusty's companies Snow Doctors and the Bronson Bar on Bikers Night.

One of Dean's fondest memories is a family cabin vacation he took to attend a cousin's wedding in Hill City, SD 2024.

Dean loved all animals, especially loved his cats and horses. He was very social and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. His hobbies were pheasant hunting and watching Iowa Hawkeyes football.

Those left to honor Dean’s memory are his parents, Dan and Lois Mathey brother, Dustin Mathey, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
