It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Daniel Lee Phelps, 62, lost his battle with cancer peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on February 12, 2021. He will be greatly missed. At Dan's request he will be cremated and a private service will be held with family and friends later this summer.

Daniel was born November 13, 1958 to Joe and Gaileen Phelps. Dan grew up in South Sioux City, NE and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1976. He enlisted into the United States Army immediately after at the young age of 17. Daniel was honorably discharged after serving four years.

Dan was an incredibly gifted mechanic and held positions at Fruehauf Diesel, Wells Blue Bunny, TurPak, and Sara Lee Bakery where he retired in October of 2019. He loved his time on the beaches of Maui and soaking up the sun, while living there in the 90’s. In his free time he enjoyed keeping his hands busy with projects either at home or for someone else.

Dan was a dedicated father to two daughters, Ruthann Tiemann, and Samantha (Steve) Knaus, he loved their mother, Evelyn Koury. He was an amazing papa to Alexa, Ryan, Tatum, and Kingston. A beloved son to parents, Joe (Mary) Phelps and Gaileen Phelps and an amazing brother, to Joseph, Timothy, Andrew and Steve Phelps. Dan was a friend to everyone who knew him and he always left a lasting impression.
