Obituary

Dan Eugene Parks, 53, of North Sioux City, SD,  passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 4, 2025, after a 3 year courageous battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Throughout his illness, Dan's faith never wavered — he often said he "felt like a million bucks" and trusted that God had a plan for him.  A memorial service will be held Friday, October 10. 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Sunnybrook Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Born on July 22, 1972, to Dean and Diane (Scott) Parks in Spencer, Iowa, Dan spent his early years on the family farm in Clay County, learning the value of hard work and dedication from his parents and grandparents, Frank and Bernice (Marsh) Parks.  A proud graduate of Spencer Community School, Dan developed a fascination with technology at a young age. He purchased his first Commodore computer with his 4-H money and never looked back. He loved learning, tinkering, and sharing his knowledge with others. Dan went on to work at Gateway and several computer and technology companies, where his innovative mind, ability to sell anything and problem-solving skills left a lasting impact.

On October 11 2003, he married the love of his life, Holly, and together they raised four beautiful children — Victoria, Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Montgomery. Dan's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Whether it was traveling, camping under the stars, or 4-wheeling through the trails with Holly and the kids, Dan made every moment an adventure. He had a gift for storytelling — spinning wild tales and cracking jokes that could make anyone laugh or believe just about anything.

Dan also dedicated many years of service to his community through the North Sioux City Fire Department and EMS, and as a North Sioux City Council member. His selflessness, leadership, and sense of humor touched countless lives.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Holly; their children, Victoria (Rob), Elizabeth (James), Alexandra (Corbin), and Montgomery; his parents, Dean and Diane; his grandmother, Bernice Parks; his brother, Brian (Tina), and sister, Chavon (Chris); granddaughter, Valencia; and many other family and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Parks and William Scott, and grandmother, Dorothy (Davis) Scott.  As well as life long best friend Jason Nelson.

Dan will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, his infectious laughter, and his devotion to his community. He lived life with joy, purpose, and heart — and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
