Obituary

Dale Wendall Fish, 72, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on January 16, 2025.  A memorial visitation will be held Monday, January 20 from 11-1:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Dale Wendall Fish, born on December 5, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, was a man defined by his love for family, cars, and the simple joys of life. Raised on a farm near Galva, he developed a passion for mechanics early on, learning from his father. After graduating from Galva High School in 1971 and earning an auto mechanics degree from Western Iowa Tech in 1973, Dale began a long and successful career, starting at Kidder Knoepfler Chevrolet and later transitioning to fleet maintenance. For 20 years, he served his customers with dedication, and in retirement, continued to give back by providing part-time bus service for Siouxland Regional Transit.

In 1995, Dale married Dorothy Cagle, blending their families into one. Together, they created a life full of love, laughter, and pride in their seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Dale’s passions extended beyond his work. He was a lifelong car enthusiast who enjoyed attending stock car races, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Bulls, and taking long walks with his beloved dogs. But it was his generosity, infectious humor, and steadfast integrity that left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Dale was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a joke, or simply be there for those who needed him.

Dale is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Scott (Maria), Sarah (Ben), Troy, Joey, and Wendy; his brother, Gary (Barb); grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with family and friends who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Opal Jean Fish.

Dale will be remembered not just for his mechanical prowess, but for his unwavering love for his family and his gentle, caring spirit. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
