Dak Ngut, 36, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 22 at 10:00am at Redeemer Lutheran Church 3204 S Lakeport St. in Sioux City. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery, Dakota City, NE. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Friday, February 21 at the funeral home 4125 Orleans Ave, Sioux City.

Dak was born on December 12, 1988, in Maiwut, Sudan, to Chuol Ngut Buol and Pathjal Gach Puoch, He was known for his energetic spirit and passion for sports from an early age.  As a child, Dak was always on the move, often seen bouncing or kicking a ball. This natural athleticism and enthusiasm for sports flourished as he grew. Soccer became his first love, and he proudly represented his middle and high school teams, showcasing his skills and dedication. His love for basketball came next, and whether it was a competitive game or a casual match with friends, he brought the same energy and joy to the court. He continued playing basketball into adulthood, participating in local leagues and forming lasting friendships through the game.

Dak athletic journey led him to Iowa Central Community College, where he played soccer for the Tritons while pursuing a degree in Sports Management. His determination on the field and his academic commitment reflected his drive to succeed and his love for sports.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Dak will be remembered for his kind heart and playful spirit. He cherished time spent with family and friends; bringing laughter and joy to everyone he met. His warmth, compassion, and infectious sense of humor left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Dak is survived by his loving parents, Chuol Ngut Buol and Pathjal Gach Puoch, and his siblings: Nyawargak Ngut, Nhiam Ngut, Kuot Ngut, Kueth Ngut, Nyaruach Ngut, Nyadach Ngut, Khan Ngut, and Nyamuch Ngut.

Dak’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
