Cynthia "Cindy" Stastny, 73, Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at home with family present. We are having a funeral service at the Waterbury funeral home (4125 Orleans Ave) in Sioux City, Iowa at 11am on August 30th, 2024.

Cindy was born on April 10th, 1951, Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Betty (Lang) Trudeau and Gordon Backer. She graduated from Le Mars High School and was in the Miss Le Mars pageant in 1970. Cindy then moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she lived with Ione and Robert Perry and attended Dental Assistant School, graduating in 1971. While in school, Cindy met and later married, David Lee Stastny, and together they shared 13 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Clara and Andrea, who brought immense joy to her life. Cindy always put their needs first and worked tirelessly to provide for them. She then moved to Sioux City and was a manager for food service at the South Sioux City Community Schools until retirement. Cindy was also a member of the First Lutheran Church where she taught 5th grade Sunday school for over 30 years. She loved spending time with her family, sewing, and purchasing jewelry and purses.

She is survived by her siblings, Susie Garrett, Lesa DeBoer, Chris Trudeau, and Sally Hankins; Daughters, Clara Otto (with husband, Richard Otto) and Andrea Kleider (with husband, Greg Kleider); Grandchildren, Michael Otto, Mitchell Otto, Abigail Cook (with husband, Trae Cook), Alex Kleider, Ashley Kleider, and Alaina Kleider; Great grandchildren, Emerson, Baylor, Forrie, and Raelyn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and late ex husband, David Stastny.
